Apartment Inspection Checklist – Dormitories
Position Summary:
This temporary role involves conducting thorough inspections of dormitory apartments to ensure they meet cleanliness, safety, and functionality standards. The position requires a reliable, proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong sense of responsibility.
General Areas

Ensure all doors and windows close and lock securely.

Check for any signs of pest activity or infestation.

Confirm that all light fixtures are operational.

Inspect walls, ceilings, and floors for any visible damage or stains.

Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure proper functionality.
Kitchen

Confirm all appliances (refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher) are clean and in working condition.

Inspect countertops and cabinets for wear, damage, or cleanliness.

Check that the sink and faucet are functioning properly and free of leaks.

Test the garbage disposal to ensure it operates correctly.

Verify that proper ventilation is available and functioning (range hood or exhaust fan).
Bathroom

Test all plumbing fixtures (sink, toilet, shower/bathtub) for leaks and functionality.

Ensure the exhaust fan is operational to prevent moisture buildup.

Inspect for any signs of mold or mildew.

Confirm mirrors and cabinets are clean and in good condition.

Check for adequate water pressure and the availability of hot water.
Living Room & Bedrooms

Inspect flooring (carpet, hardwood, tile) for any signs of damage or excessive wear.

Test heating and air conditioning systems for proper operation.

Ensure all windows have appropriate coverings (blinds, curtains) and they function correctly.

Examine closets and storage areas for cleanliness, damage, and usability.
Position Requirements:

Accountable and self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a small team.

Detail-oriented, able to spot even minor maintenance or cleanliness issues.

Comfortable using basic supplies to address minor issues during inspections (e.g., wiping surfaces, organizing small items, placing linens).

Capable of accurately completing checklists and documenting larger concerns (e.g., broken blinds, pest signs, damage).
-
Good physical condition and mobility to inspect various spaces (including under beds, inside closets, etc.).

Effective communicator for reporting findings and coordinating with team leads.
-
Previous experience in facility inspection, property maintenance, or custodial work is a plus, but not required.
