ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER - $19-$22/HR
JOB TITLE: Assistant Retail Manager
SALARY/BENEFITS: $18–$22/hour, depending on experience. After meeting eligibility requirements, full-time employees may enroll in a health coverage plan, accrue paid leave, and access a 401(k) retirement plan.
SCHEDULE:
Full-Time: 35–40 hours/week
Monday – Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Reports to: Office Manager

ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
The facility is a 45,000-square-foot warehouse offering new and used building materials for public purchase. Located in Southeast Baltimore City near Highlandtown, the organization is the nation’s first successful, self-sustaining nonprofit building materials reuse center, founded in 1984. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor’s degree, Associate degree, or equivalent work experience is required. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment—inside and outside, in both hot and cold conditions, with exposure to dust.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced manager to join the leadership team. Primary responsibilities include managing cashier staff, overseeing cash handling procedures, ensuring strong customer service, and participating in store opening/closing duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management & Administration:

Open and close the store; serve as facility key holder
-
Create and manage cashier schedules
-
Supervise cashiers’ daily activities, provide training and feedback
-
Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment

Maintain product pricing documentation, operational procedures, and reports
Cash Handling & Administration:
-
Oversee daily cash count-in/out, deposits, credit card reconciliation, and change orders

Support and participate in cashier shifts as needed

Ensure accurate POS data entry for membership and distribution transactions

Maintain procedures for transactions, holds, and supplies at cashier stations

Troubleshoot issues with credit card machines, the POS system, and transaction errors
Customer Service:

Deliver professional service on the sales floor

Maintain Hold/Sold logs and client records

Respond to customer inquiries via phone and email
Product Management & Marketing:

Assist with merchandising and maintaining clean, clearly signed product displays

Conduct store sweeps for signage accuracy and cleanliness

Support product marketing through social media and email input

Help execute promotional displays and maintain consistency in advertised merchandise presentation
